Violin and Viola
Miguel is a violinist and string multi-instrumentalist based in central New Jersey. He is a graduate of Rutgers Mason Gross School of the Arts, with over 15 years of performance experience. In addition to graduating with a BM in violin performance, Miguel has studied numerous string instruments including viola, classical guitar, and Brazilian mandolin. He performs classical, baroque, salsa, charanga and other Latin styles, as well as Irish traditional and old-time fiddling. His favorite performances are with his family!
As a teacher, Miguel was trained in the Suzuki method which emphasizes natural, rote learning and focuses on tone and healthy posture while playing. Raised in north New Jersey, he has firsthand experience navigating auditions for NJMEA, as well as youth orchestras and other competitive extracurriculars. His teaching philosophy is focused on making string instruments an accessible and valuable part of each student’s life, and structuring lessons around their personal goals. Whether you are hoping to take a serious audition, excel in orchestra at school, or just want to learn a new instrument and better yourself, Miguel will meet you exactly where you are and help you improve.
